This is caused by http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348708 - however it's easy to fix in notification-daemon.

(In [2880]) Patch by Ed Catmur to fix an assertion failure when destroying a notification caused by gtk_widget_realize() being called somewhere in the destructor chain. This closes ticket #77.
